Softball Coaching Staff Earns Honor

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University softball coaching staff was named the 2010 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
Head coach Jan Hutchinson and assistant coach Susan Kocher, along with Dee Wolfe and Tara Reed, earned the honor after Bloomsburg wrapped up NFCA Hall of Famer Jan Hutchinson’s final year at the helm with a 50-8 record and the PSAC Championship. The Huskies made their 11th national championship appearance this season and finished the event with a 1-2 record.
In 33 years as head coach, Hutchinson has become the winningest coach in Division II softball with 1215 wins and just 288 losses. Leading the way for the Huskies this season were Louisville Slugger/NFCA second-team All-Americans Shavaun Fisher (Coplay, Allentown Central Catholic)and Danielle Lazorka (Williamsport, Jersey Shore), as well as third-team selection Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore, Jersey Shore).
