BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg (PA) University wrestling team has announced its 2010-11 schedule. The Huskies, a member of the both the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) will host nine events at the Nelson Field House this season.
Bloomsburg will open its season on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Boston University Duals followed by the home opener on Friday, Nov. 12 against Big 10 opponent Penn State starting at 7 p.m. On January 4 the Huskies will welcome ACC opponent North Carolina State to the Nelson Field House followed later in the month by EWL-rivals West Virginia and Edinboro. The Huskies will close out the home dual portion of its season in February with matches against Binghamton and Lock Haven.
In addition, Bloomsburg will be the site of two championship events this season, the PSAC and EWL championships. The PSAC championships will be Saturday, Dec. 4, while the EWL championships will be held on Sunday, March 6.
The Huskies will also hit the road for some tough competition. Along with the Boston University Duals, Bloomsburg will wrestle in the Navy Classic, the Northeast Duals in Albany, NY, the Southern Scuffle and take on EIWA power Pennsylvania. Bloomsburg also has EWL road matches with Pitt, Clarion and Cleveland State scheduled.
“This is certainly another ambitious schedule for us,” said head coach John Stutzman. “We are bringing some of the top wrestling talent in the nation here to Bloomsburg and it would be great to have all the area wrestling fans come here to see it right in their backyard.”
“Also, we have scheduled some very tough road matches this year including Penn and our annual trip to the Northeast Duals where we will face Northern Iowa,” said Stutzman.
