BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University men’s track & field team travels to Farrell Stadium on the campus of West Chester University to compete in the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend.
The Huskies will be led on the track by distance runners
Misha Litvinov (Drums, Hazleton) and
Bobby Furman (Broomall, Marple Newtown). Each has qualified in the 5,000 meters while Litvinov has also qualified in the 10,000 meters, running a 31:51.71 at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic, the 11th best time in the PSAC this season. Litvinov posted a season-best 15:29.32 in the 5,000 at Bloomsburg’s Maroon and Gold Invitational and finished first place overall at West Chester’s Golden Ram Collegiate Invitational with a time of 15:29.76. Furman has a season-best time of 15:31.16 in the 5,000, coming in right behind Litvinov at the Maroon and Gold Invitational.
Michael Hookham (Middlesex, NJ, Middlesex), another distance runner, qualified for the Huskies in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 9:54.17 at the Maroon and Gold Invitational.
Andrew Anderson (Toms River, NJ, Toms River North) and
Jared Arnold (Philadelphia, Engineering & Science) have qualified for the 400 and 800 meters, respectively. Anderson ran a season-best 50.29 at the Maroon and Gold Invitational while Arnold hit 1:57.34, also on his home track.
Field athletes that have qualified for Bloomsburg are
Matthew Stuck (Milton, Milton) in the pole vault and decathlon,
Jason LaForme (Muncy, Hughesville) in the javelin and
Stephen Grib (Vernon, NJ, Vernon) in the decathlon.
Stuck vaulted to second place overall at the Husky Open with a height of 14’2.75”, the 11th best mark in the conference this spring. He also tied for first in the vault at the Golden Ram Invitational and placed second at the Susquehanna Open. His highest point total in the decathlon was 5,196, 10th in the PSAC, which he earned at the Mondshein Multi’s.
LaForme’s toss of 189’1” at Susquehanna’s Jim Taylor Invitational earned him a spot at PSACs and was the ninth best throw in the conference this year. Grib scored a season-best 4,691 points in the decathlon at the Mondschein Multi’s, 12th in the PSAC this spring.
The championships start on Thursday morning with the men’s decathlon at 11:00 a.m. and continue through Saturday afternoon.
