BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University women’s tennis players Katie Hasyn (Lansdale, North Penn)and Laura Sullivan (Dingman's Ferry, Delaware Valley) have been named All-PSAC East (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) in singles play, while the team of Hasyn and Kristen Bonito (Bridgewater, MA, Coyle Cassidy Memorial) were named All-PSAC East in doubles.

Hasyn, a senior, played at number one singles for the Huskies and was 3-1 in conference play. Down the stretch she won six of her final 10 matches to help the Huskies capture first place in the PSAC Eastern Division and third place at the PSAC championships. She was named the PSAC East Player of the Week on April 11 after going a combined 4-0 (including doubles) in two matches.

This is the third time Hasyn has been named to the All-PSAC team. As a sophomore she was named the PSAC East Player of the Year and earned All-PSAC East honors last season. In 2007 she was named PSAC East Freshman of the Year.

Hasyn was also named All-PSAC East in doubles with Kristen Bonito. This is the first all-conference award for the two as a doubles team. On the year Hasyn and Bonito have a record of 9-6, 9-4 in dual meet action. The pair has won seven straight matches and nine of their last 11, including two at the PSAC championships.

Sullivan, a junior, was named All-PSAC East for the second straight year. This season she has a record of 15-6, including a mark of 7-3 in the number two position. She was named the PSAC East Player of the Week on April 20 after going a combined 6-0 (doubles included) and dropping just 10 games in three matches.

A year ago Sullivan was also named the winner of the Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship for the Atlantic Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The award goes to a player who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.

Bloomsburg is awaiting word on a bid to the NCAA championships.
