EAST STROUDSBURG—
Valerie Homer (East Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg South),
Katie Filemyr (Willow Grove, Bishop McDevitt) and
Kaitlyn Meck (Dillsburg, Northern ) took first place finishes in the 100, 1500 and 3000 meters, respectively, as the Bloomsburg University women’s track and field team competed at the All-American Meet hosted by East Stroudsburg University.
Homer’s time of 12.75 in the 100 was good for first by .05 of a second, as
Kaila Hassler (Schnecksville, Parkland) came in fifth at 13.10. Each competed in the 200 as well, with Hassler finishing fourth with a time of 27.08 and Homer coming in seventh at 27.84.
Filemyr’s time in the 1500 was 4:59.69, edging ESU’s Niki Pasquarella by .08 for first place.
Victoria Davis (Schuylkill, Schuylkill Haven) came in sixth over with a time of 5:13.07. Davis also finished sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:29.56. Meck finished the 3000 in 10:23.48, winning by more than 20 seconds.
Samantha Matthews (Windsor, Glenelg) and
Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield, Cardinal O'Hara) came in third and fourth with times of 11:08.90 and 11:34.30.
Other good performances came from
Brielle Stefanelli (Montvale, NJ, Pascack Hills) who came in second in the 400 with a time of 1:01.70 and
Jaime Petrella (Ringwood, NJ, Lakeland Regional) whose time of 17.26 in the 100 hurdles was good for fourth.
The Huskies will next compete in the Penn Relays next weekend.
