Furman Takes First in 3000 Meters at All-American Meet

EAST STROUDSBURG—Bobby Furman (Broomall, Marple Newtown) finished first in the 3000 meters as the Bloomsburg University men’s track and field team competed in the All-American Meet held on the campus of East Stroudsburg University.

Furman finished with a time of 8:56.80, just .09 ahead of second place finisher Tom Zarnoch from ESU. Michael Hookham (Middlesex, NJ, Middlesex), Nick Patton (Canton, Canton) and Sam Wisniewski (Lititz, Warwick) also competed in the 3000, finishing with times of 9:14.90, 9:27.36 and 9:29.73, respectively.

John Barnett (Chester Springs, Downingtown East) had good performances in both hurdle events, coming in eighth with a time of 16.77 in the 110 hurdles and finishing sixth with a time of 58.63 in the 400 hurdles. Cory Palek (Shenandoah, Shenandoah Valley) finished ninth in the hammer with a throw of 32.17 meters.

The Huskies will next compete in the Penn Relays next weekend.
